Hogg Country
Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 17, 2026
Hogg Country publishes hiking logs, Appalachian Trail planning resources, and Scout planning tools. The Scout ChatGPT app is a read-only planning companion that returns public Hogg Country guide content and candidate trail reference context.
Information We Process
The Scout ChatGPT app receives the prompts and planning details you choose to provide in ChatGPT, such as trail mile, direction, pace, water capacity, shelter preference, and planning notes. Do not provide emergency-only information, medical records, financial information, credentials, or other sensitive personal data unless a tool explicitly asks for it and you intend to share it.
How We Use Information
We use submitted planning details only to generate trail-planning context, source leads, draft planning documents, and compact Scout summaries. Current Scout ChatGPT tools are read-only: they do not save plans to a Scout account, send messages, contact emergency services, publish content, or push anything to a device.
Public Sources And Caveats
Scout may return public Hogg Country content and open-reference Appalachian Trail candidate data. Candidate data can be incomplete or stale. Always verify live weather, closures, water reliability, permits, fees, town services, and safety conditions with current official or local sources before relying on them in the field.
Third-Party Platforms
When you use Scout inside ChatGPT, OpenAI processes your ChatGPT conversation and app interactions under OpenAI's terms and privacy policy. Hogg Country does not control OpenAI's platform logs, account data, or retention settings.
Data Sharing
Hogg Country does not sell personal information. Current Scout ChatGPT tools do not send your prompts to third-party services beyond the platform infrastructure needed to run the app and return responses.
